Coonoor, a jewel nestled amid Nilgiri Hills, is one naturally blessed south Indian hill station in Tamil Nadu. Set just 20 km from Ooty, Coonoor is renowned for the production of Nilgiri tea. The destination sees thousands of visitors around the year, but summers are just too beautiful here. Coonoor is a beautiful mix of tea plantations, new dams and old churches. The place is a heaven for the tea lovers. For this, make sure you have one whole day in hand! At this more than half a decade old tea factory, you can get up close and personal with the process of tea manufacturing. Short guided tours are also available for those who are interested.

Dolphin's Nose

About 12 km from Coonoor is the gorgeous Dolphin's Nose. Set 1500 m above sea level, it is the tip of a peak and the gigantic rock here resembles a dolphin's nose, thus the name.

The location of this dam is perfect for solitude seekers and was built in 1941. There’s a small tribe settlement, and the guard at the dam can help you with local sightseeing.

Lamb’s Rock is an interesting vantage point, around 8 km from Coonoor. The place gets extremely crowded during weekends. It is known for offering some stunning views of the surroundings and Nilgiri hills.

Sim's Park

This one is probably one of the prime attractions in Coonoor. The beautiful park with a walking trail is famous among visitors and locals, alike. It was founded in 1874 by J.D. Smith and the park was later converted into a botanical garden. The garden hosts a fruit and flower show every summer.
