Hero Movie Review : A bloody entertaining film, quite literally!

Critic's Rating: 3.5/5
Plot: A barber decides to kill his ex-girlfriend, who is married to a mafia head. While he comes prepared for this to their residence, he gets stuck in a web of misadventures.

Review: The trailer of Hero had created ample hype and expectations. The film promised an entertainer that was set against an unlikely backdrop of a mafia head's house in interior Karnataka. The film does live up to most of those expectations and one gets to watch a 'bloody' entertaining film, quite literally.
This dark comedy is filled with errors and misadventures that can get you laughing out loudly at times. The first half of the film, which traces the awkward meeting between a barber and his ex-girlfriend who is now married to a goon, is breezy and is a complete joyride. The second half has some sequences that could have been tighter, but those can definitely be overlooked as the climax and the laughs that follow make up for it.
Rishab Shetty frontlines the cast and leads with elan. His performance is praiseworthy and you feel with his character. Ganavi Laxman makes a good debut and her acting deserves a special mention. The rest of the cast, be it Pramod Shetty and Manjunath Gowda as the villains or the comic ensemble, everyone provides just what the script required.
Director M Bharath Raj makes a commendable debut. He is well supported by his technical team, especially B Ajaneesh Loknath, whose background score elevates the film. The cinematography by Aravind Kashyap is also intriguing. Hero is a fun watch, which could have been a tad shorter. This is definitely worth a watch, especially if you enjoy quirky comedies with mafia backdrop. The bloodshed is excessive, which justifies the A certificate. Be warned about that, though the bloodshed has its own quirky advantage.
